We feel that school activities encourage each child to relate to others through listening, sharing, taking turns, following directions and concentrating on activities. This is achieved by participation that is structured in a warm, supportive atmosphere within developmentally appropriate classes.

First, we believe that each child is a unique individual who will develop physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially at his or her own pace. We believe that children are competent learners, capable of embracing new ideas and engaging with the world around them. Second, we believe children learn through play. Play is their work. It is through play that children practice their social skills. Through play, academic concepts are introduced and children have a chance to use their imagination. Through play, children will naturally learn to become independent critical thinkers. We like to think that children consider Lincoln Country Day School their second home…a place where they are accepted and loved… a place where laughter and play are treasured.

For many students this international environment is a first exposure to a foreign language. TBC’s broad curriculum emphasizes nurturing its students’ innate curiosity. As part of the science program, preschoolers might try to predict what happens when they touch a tesla coil and, after the hair-raising experience, draw a picture to record their findings. TBC’s social studies activities turn the pre-K class into world travelers, exploring the art, culture and geography of a different country every month through hands-on projects and parent presentations. TBC’s toddlers draw inspiration from the school’s lush gardens by painting landscapes on the expansive patio area, while the playgrounds, sandbox and beautiful lawns offer ample opportunities to simply enjoy the sunshine! Above all, The Teddy Bear Club strives to build students’ self-esteem, foster friendships and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
